People with the metabolic imbalance called syndrome X lose weight much more slowly than people who don't have syndrome X. Syndrome X is also known as insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome or pre-diabetes. It occurs when the hormone insulin (made by the pancreas), starts to lose its effectiveness. That means insulin doesn't do a good job of getting glucose into your cells where it can be burnt off for energy.   • Exercise regularly.  A combination of aerobic exercise, that makes you huff and puff and muscle strengthening exercise is best.
