6 signs your body is inflamed (and what to do about it)
If you are interested in improving your health, you have probably read about inflammation. It seems that nearly every article about health problems these days refers to inflammation. This makes sense because when you look at nearly every illness, inflammation is an initiator and driver of the disease process.
What exactly is inflammation?
Inflammation is the way our body responds to injury. We can usually tell a part of our body is inflamed when it is red, hot, swollen and we can’t move it properly. Think of a stubbed toe or a sprained ankle. Inflammation is present in all ‘itis’ conditions, such as arthritis, hepatitis, bursitis and many others. However, inflammation can also occur inside our body in a much more silent way, where we don’t even know it is happening. Fatigue and pain are classic indicators that there’s too much inflammation in your body.
Actually your body will give you several clues. It is important to pay attention to these signs because if not addressed, they may spell future health problems.
Here are 6 common symptoms of excessive inflammation
- Aches and pains. If you regularly feel achy in your muscles, joints or all over, you can bet your body is inflamed. When your immune cells or fat cells produce inflammatory chemicals called cytokines, you will experience heightened pain sensitivity and stiffness. Fibromyalgia and arthritis are classic symptoms of excess inflammation, but generalized pain when getting out of bed in the morning is another symptom. Pain in the soles of the feet (plantar fasciitis) is another classic sign of inflammation.
- Fatigue. Fatigue can be caused by many different factors but you may not realize it’s a typical sign of inflammation. When your immune cells are continually busy secreting large volumes of inflammatory chemicals or antibodies, fatigue is the natural consequence. Think about the fatigue you experience with the flu. Chronic allergies such as allergic rhinitis also typically results in some degree of fatigue. Any health condition that causes inflammation usually results in fatigue.
- Being overweight. It was once thought that the sole purpose of fat cells was to store excess calories and provide your body with a bit of warmth and padding. We now know that fat cells operate like chemical factories. Fat cells are actually able to produce many of the same chemicals your immune cells make while your immune system is trying to battle with an infection. If you have a lot of fat on your body you’ll produce a lot more of these chemicals 24 hours a day. Unfortunately those inflammatory chemicals tend to create insulin resistance, which makes losing weight extremely difficult. If you want to lose weight it’s important to follow our guidelines for reducing inflammation below.
- You suffer with red or itchy skin. Redness and itching are classic signs of inflammation. These symptoms can be caused by allergies or autoimmune disease or be due to an unhappy liver. Itchy skin is very common in people with hepatitis but can occur if the liver is inflamed for a variety of different reasons. An inflamed liver produces greater quantities of an inflammatory chemical called C reactive protein.
- A diagnosed autoimmune disease. Excessive inflammation is a feature of all autoimmune diseases and is largely responsible for the symptoms common to most autoimmune conditions – pain, fatigue and poor quality sleep. There are 81 different confirmed autoimmune diseases, with another 20 or so suspected to be autoimmune in nature. That means autoimmune disease is incredibly common. You may not realize that your health problems are autoimmune. Common examples of autoimmune conditions are psoriasis, most thyroid disorders, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. To understand the treatment of autoimmune conditions please see the book Healing Autoimmune Disease: A plan to help your immune system and reduce inflammation.
- Allergies or infections. If you suffer with allergies, you are definitely inflamed. Allergies tend to produce the most obvious symptoms of inflammation – swelling, redness, itching and pain. The symptoms are the result of your immune response to normally harmless substances such as grass, pollen or foods. Infections are a very common cause of inflammation, particularly chronic infections that linger. Some viruses and bacteria have a habit of lingering in your body for years, chronically stimulating your immune system while also releasing toxins into your bloodstream. Examples include hepatitis, Epstein barr virus, herpes viruses and parasitic gut infections. Chronic infections put an enormous strain on your immune system and liver; therefore it is very important to strengthen your immune system to improve your chances of clearing the infection with clear instructions are contained in my book, Bird Flu Virus - Your Personal Survival Guide.
Natural ways of reducing inflammation
- Diet. It all starts with your diet. This makes sense because we all need to eat, and your mouth is the main source of foreign material entering your body. The food you eat can either be nourishing or harmful. The type of food you eat will also determine the types of microbes that live in your gut. Processed foods tend to feed all the wrong bugs. The most inflammatory foods are sugar, gluten, wheat, cow’s milk, artificial additives and any food you have an allergy or sensitivity to. Therefore it is best to base your diet on vegetables, salads, protein (for example eggs, poultry, seafood, meat), healthy fats, fruit, nuts and seeds. Try to avoid eating foods that come in packets.
- Try to maintain a healthy weight. As mentioned, being overweight will result in a far greater production of inflammatory chemicals in your body. If you base your diet on the foods listed in the point above, you’ll find it much easier to lose weight. There is an easy to follow weight loss plan in my Syndrome X book.
- Clean up your bowel. The main source of toxicity entering your bloodstream is via a toxic bowel. This is especially true if you suffer with irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, diarrhea, leaky gut syndrome or if you’re taking acid suppressing medication. The microbes living inside us and on us outnumber our human cells by 10 to 1, and the majority of these bugs live in your bowel. That means they have an enormous bearing on your health and it’s critical to look after them. If your bowel is sluggish you would benefit from Colon Detox capsules. They will help to get things moving and clean your colon of long standing residual waste. Intestinal Parasite Cleanse capsules are helpful for those people suffering with bloating, gas and burping, as they help to get rid of the bugs producing the gases.
- Try a serrapeptase supplement. Serrapeptase is an enzyme that was first discovered in the intestine of silkworms. This enzyme is necessary in order for the silkworm to dissolve the hard cocoon it is surrounded by, when it is ready to emerge as a moth. Serrapeptase is a protease enzyme; that means it has the ability to digest protein. Research has shown this remarkable enzyme can help to dissolve non-living tissue in the body such as cysts, swellings, plaque and scar tissue. It is excellent for helping to reduce pain, stiffness and swelling and for helping to speed the repair of old injuries that are lingering and continuing to produce discomfort.
- Try to get good solid sleep. Good quality sleep and adequate sleep are both critical for optimal health but they tend to be very under valued. Many people skimp on sleep, thinking they’ll catch up later. Unfortunately you never really do catch up. Sure you can sleep in on the weekend but a loss of sleep negatively impairs your immune system long term. Try to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night and try to be in bed by 10:30pm. If your sleep quality is poor, magnesium or melatonin may help.
Having too much Inflammation in your body is a significant risk factor for future health problems. The suggestions above will help to keep inflammation at bay.

i would advise you go on anti-inflammatory diet = no sugar, no grains, no processed foods
you can eat meat, poultry, eggs, nuts, seafood, vegetables (but not nightshade vegetables)
Avoid gluten completely.
Supplements can help to reduce pain and inflammation and include - MAGNESIUM ULTRAPOTENT one teaspoon daily in water, SERRAPEPTASE 2 capsules twice day thirty minutes before food with water, NAC Capsules 2 twice day with a whole large glass of water inbetween meals and not after dinner, and COLLAGEN FOOD POWDER one tsp day in water.
it may take 6 to 12 weeks for good relief and these are not drugs, you need to be regular and patient.
You may have autoimmune arthritis.
raw juices can help also - carrot, beet, ginger, cucumber, parsley, lime

It is most important to understand that all cancers use sugars as their preferred food source, so please remove all foods that provide sources of blood sugar from your diet.
Inflammation is also to be kept as low as possible so remove all processed foods and industrial seed oils and hydrogenated oils(margarine) as well.
Although you have had a double mastectomy, we strongly recommend Breast Health Capsules – 1 capsule twice daily.
Kind regards

Pain does tend to occur in response to inflammation and your short-term favorable response to cortisone confirms this.
It does not just happen, something has to be causing the inflammation, so go back to your doctor to have further testing to determine the source.
If you have noticed anything change in your body it may give you an idea of what is going on, and it is worthwhile to have serious disease excluded by having all tumor markers, including PSA tested.
When you have had these tests done please let us know for more targeted advice.

When I cut out gluten, it all went away for a few months, but returned. I cut dairy as well, later soy, then began eating really clean. All of those things worked for a few months, then the swelling keeps coming back..
If I watch my diet ( eating )like a hawk, the water retention isn’t quite as bad, but I just keep feeling like my body is trying really hard to put on fat or water..
I exercise enough, etc can’t figure out what’s going on..
Maybe thyroid issue or Candida overgrowth??
I’m stumped..
The majority of bloating is in my lower gut..
We recommend you follow the eating plan in Dr Cabot's book 'Healthy Bowel, Healthy Body'.
You may benefit from taking
Bactoclear 2 tabs twice daily to improve intestinal health, eradicate bacterial overgrowth and improve digestive symptoms.
Floratone 1 cap twice daily in between meals to recolonise your gut with good bacteria and promote healthy digestion.
Glutamine 1 metric tsp twice daily to heal and seal the gut lining and restore intestinal health.

The article you read cited diet as a very important predisposing factor with inflammation and to reduce this we recommend an anti-inflammatory/ liver friendly diet, so remove all alcohol, gluten (found in wheat, rye, barley and oats), sugars – including all cane sugars, high fructose corn syrup and agave, palm sugar, sodas, all artificial sweeteners except for stevia, processed foods, damaged fats like margarines and most refined oils, and deep-fried foods.
Replace these with lots of highly coloured vegetables, 2 – 3 portions of protein and some good fats like nuts, avocado, cold pressed virgin olive and nut oils, oily fish, nuts, coconut oil, coconut milk/cream.
Begin each day with the juice of ½ a lemon in warm to hot water and drink at least 1½ litres of fresh water daily.
Ensure you also have at least ½ an hour of moderate exercise daily and 8 hours restful sleep each night.
To lower inflammation, boost liver health and your vitality, Dr Cabot prescribes
Vitamin D 5,000iu – 1 capsule daily. Please have a Vitamin D blood test to ensure this dose is sufficient.
Selenomune Designer Energy - 1 capsule daily for 4 months and then 1 capsule on alternate days, to increase your selenium levels to help keep inflammation at bay.

I feel inflammation within me and in my head. After each bath, I feel at eased, but after a short while of not more an hour, it starts to manifest gradually. I feel depressed too, and I feel aches at my back, neck, and near my heart, i hardly sleep, but when i sleep, it takes few hours of sleep sometimes 2hrs, sometimes 3-4hrs and this makes me feel fatigue to get out of bed, and frequent urination of not more than 2hrs interval. I noticed too that the weather of my place is hot too. I began to experience this from this past Saturday which is barely a week I had accident. How do you address my situation as I am getting depressed and anxious on daily, if not minute bases especially when I become sensitive to my health.
We recommend you see your healthcare practitioner.

With all of these problems, do I have some type of inflammation disease?
I have been fighting inflamed and real bad night sweats all over my body and inflammation for about maybe 4- years or more can't remember my body aches & hurts especially on my knees & bottom of my heels now I get tingling & like alittle shock once in awhile ion my arms. In the mornings & towards the evening...I sleep like 6- hours or less cuz I get up in the middle of the night with night sweats. About 4- years ago I had kidney stones they said I havve to much build up Calcium, that I don't know how don't drink too much dairy products.. I am overweight I weight about 154 lbs. at the age of 55- years 4'11 inches height I use to weight 130 lbs can't seem to lose my weight anymore very depressing, I get discouraged.. please help me.
If blood tests are showing your calcium to be high, have your doctor perform a PTH test as well. The problems you seem to have might have something to do with your parathyroid. It is easy to find out through the blood tests.
Is it possible you are going through menopause?
Night sweats and weight gain are common symptoms of this.
We recommend you get a liver function test and get your hormone levels checked.
Kidney stones can also be caused by not drinking enough water.
Try to base your diet on whole foods such as good protein sources (poultry, lean red meat, seafood, eggs), good fats (avocadoes, cold pressed virgin olive oil, coconut oil, nuts and seeds), fresh fruits and vegetables.
We recommend you take
Livatone Plus 2 caps twice daily to improve liver function.
Femmephase one to two caps daily to naturally balance hormones and contains minerals to support the thyroid gland and metabolism.
Selenomune 1 cap daily with food contains selenium which is required for the production of glutathione; the most powerful antioxidant in the body. Supports the immune system and strengthens detoxification pathways of the liver.

To reduce inflammation we recommend you take
Serrapeptase 2 caps daily on an empty stomach. Serrapeptase is a natural enzyme that helps to break up and remove debris from the joints and muscles that can lead to pain and stiffness.
MSM Plus Vitamin C 1/2 to 1 tsp twice daily. MSM is an important component of proteins found throughout the body, such as in hair, nails, skin and tendons. Vitamin C is necessary for the formation of connective tissue, amino acid metabolism, and hormone synthesis and serves as a key factor in the body's immune system.
These supplements are available here:https://shop.liverdoctor.com/
We also suggest you get a blood test to check your vitamin D, as low vitamin D increases inflammation and vitamin D can be an excellent pain reliever and potent bone builder.
We suggest you eliminate grains and sugar from your diet as these are inflammatory foods.
There is excellent information in our free e-book on pain relief. Here's the link:https://www.liverdoctor.com/ebook/pain-relief-a-holistic-approach/

Inflammation can be caused by a number of things such as autoimmune genes, a poor diet that's high in inflammatory foods such as gluten, sugar or dairy, leaky gut, fatty liver, trauma from accidents and injuries, wear and tear of the joints, adrenal insufficiency, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, viruses, chronic infections,or pro-inflammatory hormones.
We suggest your daughter eliminate inflammatory foods such as gluten, sugar, and processed foods from her diet.
She needs to focus on a diet based on fresh fruits and vegetables, good quality protein sources and good quality fats.
Raw juices are excellent for detoxifying as well as an excellent way to get a good dose of antioxidants.
Dr Cabot has a wonderful book called: 'Raw Juices Can Save Your Life'.
We also recommend she get her Vitamin D levels checked, as this hormone reduces inflammation throughout the whole body and she may be deficient.
Dr Cabot recommends
Livatone Plus 2 caps twice daily to improve liver function, this will help with detoxification of the liver and help clear out toxins.
Glutamine powder 1 tsp daily in coconut milk as this soothes the intestinal lining and heals a leaky guy.
