In May 2014, I was told by my Doctor that I had a ‘fatty liver’ after having had a CT scan for abdominal pain. My Doctor told me, "no worries, there's nothing you can do about it, carry on!"

Obviously I wasn't happy with this answer so I searched the web. I found Dr Cabot's web site and it looked promising, so I bought the book “ Fatty Liver - you can reverse it” . I was 53 years old, 5’7”, and 198 lbs.

At first it was hard to give up the grains and the sugars, even though I thought I ate healthy, I discovered that I did not. I studied the book like a bible, turning to it day and night, til I knew what I could or should eat.

I did the lemons with water every morning. I ate A LOT of farm fresh eggs. I made veggie juice for the whole week and froze it in little cups (much more convenient than doing it daily)

I made a lot of legumes, with garlic and onions and spices. I ate A LOT of veggies and nuts.  The first few weeks I only lost 5-8 lbs, but then it just kept coming off. I would go off to work for a few weeks and come home 5-6 more lbs lighter.

I ate as much as I wanted, I never went  hungry! I filled up on things I loved like; celery with health peanut butter, an avocado, raw almonds, cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, carrot sticks with hummus, I learned to make crackers from almond flour ,YUM!

After time I really didn't miss the sweets, but I did let myself have treats of a piece of sugar free candy if I wanted or a low carb snack bar. I learned to put stevia in my coffee instead of honey. A handful of fresh blueberries, blackberries or a peach would make me feel satisfied, I learned to love the lower glycemic fruits.

Everyday I took the liver supplements and Vitamin E , selenium and Vitamin D, Vitamin B and Vitamin C . I drank, and still do LOTS of water.

So far to this day Dec 1, 2014, I have lost over 30 lbs, and I don't think I'm done shedding it off! I have gone down 2 pant sizes! Everyone tells me how great I look. My husband especially!

I have not changed ANYTHING about my physical activities, this weight loss was ALL from changing my diet. It's funny - I really did think that I ate healthy before, but I could never lose the extra weight, or the ‘spare tire’ around my middle. By following the advice from Dr Cabot's book and her nutritionist, my whole way of eating has changed, I am so very grateful to them!

I have recommended the book to many people, and have shared what worked for me. I am so grateful that I found Dr Cabot's book, and that I was able to learn a new way of eating that is GOOD for my body. And best of all, the abdominal pain had disappeared and my liver enzymes were down!!

I don't think my story is over yet, as I continue to slowly lose a pound or so each week. I learned that its OK to have something that's not in The Plan sometimes, but its easy to get back on track and stay there, because I feel better and it's easy.

I feel like I've been given a new lease on life, I am truly grateful!
