Case Study Update: Gallbladder Problem With Nausea
Today I’d like to tell you about a patient I wrote about previously. You can read about Marta and her gallbladder condition HERE. I’ve had several consultations with Marta over the past 3 months that I’d like to tell you about.
For the first month after her initial consultation, Marta followed the eating plan I gave her perfectly. She based her meals on protein and vegetables and was able to cut out the snacking. The awful nausea that Marta had suffered with for a long time vanished quite quickly. She said “I realised how stressed I had been all day because I felt so unwell”. Feeling sick first thing each morning made Marta dread the day and minor stressful events felt overwhelming.
Marta told me she took all her supplements as directed each day. She especially loved the BactoClear and magnesium. She said “I hadn’t realised how much my stomach puffed up after eating. I thought that was normal”. The BactoClear capsules killed off the overgrowth of bad microbes Marta had in her intestines which were fermenting the carbohydrate she ate. Her abdomen had flattened out nicely and she felt much more comfortable after meals. The magnesium helped make her much calmer, which is a feeling she loves.
We did discover that onions made Marta feel nauseous and experience loose bowel motions. Once she eliminated them from her diet, her digestive comfort improved dramatically. Because Marta was absorbing more nutrients from her meals and supplements, her energy level improved each week. These positive changes motivated Marta to keep up her good efforts.
Marta noticed that her sleep quality improved significantly. She hadn’t realised that she used to experience mild heartburn when she lay down in bed each night and that made it take longer to fall asleep. She no longer experienced that discomfort and hence fell asleep immediately and slept solidly through the night.
Marta did experience an upsetting situation at work where she was bullied. The situation continued for several weeks. Marta found it difficult to sleep, and because she was tired during the days, she didn’t put the time and effort into her meals that she usually did. There were some days she ate nuts and crackers for dinner instead of a proper meal. Fortunately for Marta, the person who bullied her was transferred to another department. Marta confessed that once the stress was over and she felt immense relief, she went on a chocolate binge. She said “I went into a grocery store and bought a lot of really expensive chocolate as a way to treat myself. I regretted it the next day because I had bad nausea and diarrhea. I’ve been rewarding myself with food for as long as I can remember, and old habits die hard”.
Marta liked to have a consultation with me every 4 to 6 weeks because she said it kept her focused and on track with her diet. She continues to take magnesium, BactoClear and ox bile capsules, and feels well when she sticks with her protein based diet.
