  1. Can medication desensitize the brain ? Causing depression

    • I’ve noticed lately that I need to take more & more natural supplements like mood food – dopamine and 5htp . If I have a week off & re start they help for a few weeks only . Why does the result tapper off ?

    • Hi Gezza,

This is a very broad question.
Depression can be caused by many things such as certain health issues, diet, lifestyle factors, certain medications, etc.
If you are experiencing depression we recommend you read Dr Cabot’s book ‘Help for Depression & Anxiety’.
      You may benefit from taking
Tyrosine Mood food 1 tab daily in between meals as tyrosine is required to manufacture the neurotransmitters involved in satisfaction and reward. Tyrosine supplements must not be used by people taking a type of antidepressant medication called Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs). Examples of these drugs include Nardil (phenelzine), Parnate (Tranylcypromine), Selgene and Eldepryl (selegiline).
Magnesium Ultra Potent powder 1/2 tsp twice daily to help reduce depression and anxiety.
Glutamine 1 tsp twice daily to alleviate symptoms of depression and support efficient brain function.

    • Hi Kym,

You will definitely benefit from reading this book.
With all autoimmune diseases we recommend you eliminate all grains from your diet.
We also recommend you get your vitamin D levels checked.
      Dr Cabot suggests you take
Thyroid Health 1 cap once or twice daily, it will improve the action of thyroid hormone replacement as it contains the necessary nutrients essential for healthy thyroid gland function.
Serrapeptase 2 caps daily on an empty stomach. Serrapeptase is a natural enzyme that helps to break up and remove debris from the joints and muscles that can lead to pain and stiffness.
MSM plus Vitamin C 1/2 a teaspoon once or twice daily as MSM plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and elasticity of connective and other tissues. Vitamin C is necessary for the formation of connective tissue, amino acid metabolism, and hormone synthesis and serves as a key factor in the body’s immune system.
