Molds Can Produce Toxins
Molds can produce toxins that damage the liver and this is not uncommon in some areas of the world, especially tropical areas.
The mold contaminates various foods such as grains, beans and nuts (especially peanuts) and the mold releases a poison known as aflatoxin.
If long term ingestion of aflatoxins occurs, cirrhosis of the liver can result. Aflatoxins also increase the risk of liver cancer
Message – avoid moldy foods
