Case study  – the mysterious itch!

Sandra Cabot MD

Robyn came to my clinic complaining of widespread itching skin and over heating of her body. She was 57 years of age and was on bio-identical hormone cream and she had attributed her itching and overheating to menopause. Robyn told me that she wanted her hormone script adjusted to relieve the itching.

After examining her, I told her that she was on the wrong track and that her symptoms were due to her fatty liver. She said “maybe you are right because I have been diagnosed with an enlarged liver”. On examination Robyn’s liver was obviously enlarged and hard, and I could feel it under her right rib cage. She was considerably overweight with all of the fat on her abdomen. Her skin was inflamed all over her body with broken skin and sores from her scratching, which she did all night; how unpleasant for this poor lady!

I suggested to her that we focus on improving her liver function and her itching would gradually go away; furthermore we could get some of the excess fat off her abdomen!  Even better we could reverse her type 2 diabetes, which had been hanging around for several years.

I recommended:

She follow the eating plan in my new book Fatty Liver - You can reverse it.
She start raw juicing with kale, cabbage, orange, carrot, mint, parsley, basil, ginger and a small amount of apple to make it palatable. One time saving tip is to juice a whole week’s supply at one time and as soon as you have made it, freeze it in small jars. Freezing will preserve the healing properties of your juice for months.
She take Livatone Plus, 2 capsules twice daily
She take a strong magnesium supplement which has been proven to help with blood sugar control.
