Today I’d like to update you about a patient who saw me recently because of digestive problems. You can read about Peter’s initial consultation here.

Peter was a very motivated patient. This is because he was fed up with feeling unwell but also because he was afraid of a serious intestinal infection. He was very scared the diverticulitis could cause him to have some of his intestine removed. That is certainly a possibility for individuals with diverticulosis.

That meant Peter followed all the recommendations I made perfectly. It’s always extremely satisfying to see a patient improve their health quickly because they are highly motivated.

Peter noticed improvements straight away. His abdomen deflated quickly and he stopped having cramps. Peter said “Those BactoClear capsules and Digestive Enzymes have really helped me. I don’t have to think about my gut anymore. I can just get on with my day and forget there was ever a problem.”

Peter made sure to cook a large amount of meat or seafood or poultry each evening for dinner. He then ate leftovers for breakfast and lunch the next day. He combined the protein with salad or vegetables. He also took a large water bottle with him everywhere he went and made sure to drink water throughout the day. Peter said “I’m in a much better mood each day. I didn’t realise how irritable and snappy I used to be. Probably because my gut was so uncomfortable all day”.

Peter’s initial consultation with me was only 5 weeks ago, so I told him to stick with the original recommendations I gave him. His gut health and overall health had vastly improved, but he had been unwell for many years and further healing was necessary. It would take more time for his gut microbes to re-balance themselves.

Peter told me that his wife was struggling with perimenopause symptoms and would like to have a consultation with me. She had adopted some of Peter’s diet changes and was already starting to feel better. I asked Peter to continue with all of his supplements for now and I would review him in our next consultation in 8 weeks.

There is more information about diverticulitis in my book Heal Your Gut an A to Z Guide.
