I was diagnosed as being "pre-diabetic" and "insulin resistant" several years ago. The advice from my doctor was "diet and exercise while you take these pills". Unfortunately, the pills made me feel like crap and prevented me from losing an ounce. Then, an abdominal ultra-sound produced a diagnosis of "Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver" and the comment, "Oh that is pretty common with pre-diabetics."

I've been reading scads of books and articles about my condition. Most have been unsatisfactory (to be nice about it). In this book, Dr. Cabot actually gives reasonable, actionable advice.

I have been following her advice for four months and I've lost over 10 pounds. That may not sound like much, but it is something I haven't been able to accomplish for more than 5 years, so it is a cause for celebration at my house. Best of all, the trend in weight loss in continuing steadily.
