Diabetes now represents 11% of all office visits to a doctor in the United States. Between 2005 and 2010 there was a 20% rise in the number of people visiting a doctor because of diabetes. The largest increase was in people aged 25 to 44 years. Most diabetics (81% of them) have more than one chronic disease and the aging population is getting sicker and sicker. These days 60% of people aged over 65 take five or more prescription drugs. The most worrying trend is probably the fact that doctor visits by younger people (25 to 44 years) are increasing the fastest. The incidence of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes is rapidly rising, but these figures mostly refer to type 2 diabetics. It’s developing in people at a younger age than ever before. This is alarming because the younger a person is when they develop type 2 diabetes, the more damage it can inflict on their body. Fortunately, type 2 diabetes is reversible in the vast majority of cases. If you want to learn how, see our book Diabetes Type 2: You Can Reverse It Naturally. Reference
