In the third and final part of our series, I will give you a guide to which foods to eat and which to avoid if you want to reverse fatty liver disease. You do not have to count calories or go hungry. There are plenty of delicious and filling foods to eat. Foods that will give you lots of energy each day, making it easier to follow a healthy lifestyle and be active.

A Low Carbohydrate Plan for fatty liver

This plan needs to be followed for 4 to 12 months depending on the severity of fatty liver. It is advisable to avoid a high intake of carbohydrates long term or fatty liver may recur. Fatty liver is NOT caused by the consumption of excess healthy unprocessed fatty foods; it is caused by the consumption of excess carbohydrates and processed foods.

AVOID HIGH CARBOHYDRATE FOODS

GRAINS – Wheat, rye, barley, oats, rice, corn – this includes pastry, flour, bread, biscuits, muffins, cereals, cakes, biscuits, cookies, pasta, noodles etc. made from these ingredients.

Honey, Sugar, Jams, Sweet preserves, and sauces

Salad dressings containing sugar and seed oils such as canola, soybean or sunflower oil

Ice cream and sweet desserts

Deep fried foods

Wine, beer, sweet drinks, sodas, and fruit juices

Margarine

Processed foods containing trans fatty acids and polyunsaturated vegetable oils

GOOD FOODS FOR FATTY LIVER

Spreads – tahini, hummus, avocado, tomato paste, nut spreads, salted or unsalted butter

Salad dressings – apple cider vinegar, lemon, lime, cold pressed oils

Fresh meat of all types, well cooked (not smoked, not preserved)

Eggs – free range or organic are best

Organic free-range poultry – not regular chicken

All seafood – including canned

All vegetables (even the starchy ones)

Fruits – 3 pieces daily is a maximum (no bananas or grapes allowed)

Legumes (e.g., beans, lentils, chickpeas) in small amounts

Raw Nuts & Seeds are excellent

Biodynamic yogurt – plain, unflavored, full fat types are best

Cheese – Feta, pecorino, vintage, parmesan cheese, cottage, ricotta (no processed cheeses)

GOOD FOODS FOR FATTY LIVER

Raw vegetable juices – mixture of cabbage, carrot, beets, turmeric, spinach, tomato, ginger.

Coconut milk (canned) can be diluted with water and makes a nice milk

Unsweetened almond milk (check labels).

Coconut oil, cold pressed oils such as olive oil

Synd-X slimming protein powder – is excellent for smoothies made with coconut cream, water and berries; Synd X Protein powder is all natural, extremely low in carbs and reduces hunger

GOOD FOODS FOR FATTY LIVER

LOW CARB NO GRAIN MUESLI RECIPE

  • WHEY PROTEIN POWDER OR SYND-X PROTEIN POWDER
  • Ground Linseeds, Sunflower seeds and Almonds (LSA)
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • A few cashew nuts
  • Chia seeds

ALCOHOL

Avoid wine as it is high in carbohydrates

Many beers are high in carbohydrates, but low carb varieties are available

A better alternative is dry spirits but only in small doses occasionally, such as rum, whiskey, vodka, tequila with soda water, fresh lime & lemon & stevia, or Nature Sweet Sugar Substitute

You can add ginger. Pass a small amount through the juice extractor, add it to the soda water, stevia, lime, or lemon.

 

A healthy liver gives you a much better chance of good health and longevity – take the letter R off the end of the word LIVER – It says LIVE
