Most people are unaware of the critical importance of magnesium to optimal health, and many do not have enough magnesium in their body for the hundreds of enzymes that require it.

How do you know if your body needs more magnesium?

Try Dr Cabot’s magnesium check list.

Do you suffer with –

  • Muscle cramps or twitches
  • Restless legs
  • Tight muscles
  • Fibromyalgia or Polymyalgia
  • Migraine or tension headaches
  • High blood pressure
  • Cold hands and feet (poor peripheral circulation)
  • Palpitations or irregular heartbeat
  • Low energy
  • Erectile dysfunction (ED)
  • Arthritis
  • Poor sleep
  • Anxiety
  • Foggy brain
  • Constipation
  • Reduced exercise performance and fitness

If you have some of these problems, it is likely you will find great benefit after supplementing with magnesium for several weeks. If it makes an improvement stay on it as magnesium is safe and does not interact with drugs.

Benefits of Magnesium

There are too many benefits to mention in one article and that’s why I wrote the book titled Magnesium the Miracle Mineral – you won’t believe the difference it makes to your health!

One brilliant and proven effect is that oral magnesium increases the production of nitric oxide (NO) in your body.

The benefits of increased NO include better blood flow, improved health of your blood vessels and better control of high blood pressure. Hypertension is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease (CVD), affecting approximately 1 billion individuals worldwide.

Boosting the production of NO has been shown to reduce erectile dysfunction.

Studies have shown that taking a supplement of the amino acid taurine enhanced endothelial nitric oxide synthesis function, with enhancement of nitric oxide activity.

Magnesium Ultrapotent Powder provides your body with 400mg of pure elemental magnesium plus 1000mg of taurine.

Note that blood tests for magnesium levels do not accurately tell you if your body has enough magnesium for optimal health because 80% of the magnesium in your body is found in your bones – yes magnesium is also critical for strong bones!

Everyone is talking about Nitric Oxide (NO)

Nitric oxide is produced naturally in your body, and causes vasodilation, meaning it relaxes the inner muscles of the blood vessels, causing them to widen and increase the circulation of blood and oxygen to every cell in your body.

Artery

NO production is critical for life and is essential for optimal health and physical and mental performance because it allows blood, nutrients, and oxygen to travel to every part of your body effectively and efficiently.

A reduced capacity to produce NO increases the incidence of diabetes, heart disease, dementia, and erectile dysfunction.

How is Nitric Oxide made in the body?

Nitrates from food are converted into nitric oxide via the saliva and stomach acid and is absorbed into the blood stream. It is important to consume a nitrate rich diet and have a healthy oral microbiome.

Foods high in nitrate include -

  • Green leafy vegetables especially, Celery, Cress, Chervil, Lettuce, Spinach, Kale and Arugula
  • Beets
  • Pomegranates
  • Garlic and onions

If the soils are low in nitrates these foods may not contain optimal amounts of nitrates. Note that nitrates from vegetables are harmless, whereas nitrates in processed delicatessen meats can be harmful, particularly when consumed in excess over long periods.

Note that using antiseptic mouth wash, or being low in stomach acid, reduces the production of nitric oxide in your body.

An efficient way to boost the action of your nitric oxide is with a supplement that contains enough Magnesium and Taurine such as Magnesium Ultrapotent powder.
