The top 10 list will probably surprise you! We hear again and again in the media that obesity rates around the world are increasing. Much of the focus of these articles has always been the USA. Well, it’s interesting to see that the most recent figures show the USA only just makes the top 10. Check out the list here. It’s interesting to see that obesity doesn’t discriminate – poor countries, rich countries, young people and older people can all be affected. Junk food companies have infiltrated every corner of the globe. Soda and take out are a feature of diets in every country of the world. Junk food is so commonly consumed that it has become normalized and accepted. You can be considered unusual if you choose not to consume it. Wherever obesity rates rise, the incidence of heart disease, diabetes and cancer also rises. These are just the most talked about consequences of obesity; kidney failure, blindness, erectile dysfunction, arthritis and depression are also much more common in obese individuals. This trend can be reversed but it takes some effort. If you are overweight you cannot continue doing what you are doing and expect a different outcome. It is important to discover why you are overweight, as several components usually need to be addressed – such as a thyroid issue, fatty liver, anxiety, sugar addiction, food intolerance, medication side effects or sex hormone imbalances.
